Mind the gap!

With the onslaught of the much hyped ’credit crunch’, organisations are cutting costs by readdressing training delivery, and pushing ownership of training and development back down the line... but are your line managers skilled for the challenge of developing teams and individuals?

According to the National Employer Skills Survey 2007, almost 163,000 managers in England experience a skills’ gap (almost three quarters of which are management skills)*. So in response to the trend for involving operational resource in training, Training For Advancement has designed a 3-day workshop to develop skills and confidence in training delivery.

Aimed at operational line managers and on-the-job trainers, the focus of the workshop is on practical activity, with the introduction of concepts and techniques for effective training delivery and 1:1 coaching.

The workshop is packed full with useful hints and tips, and delegates also walk away with a practical ’toolkit’ that captures all the key learning points, and provides an invaluable resource for troubleshooting training issues back in the workplace.

Key findings from the survey highlighted the knock-on effects of such skills gaps including: "Increased operating costs, difficulties meeting quality standards, and difficulties introducing new working practices", so if you’re looking for a cost-effective solution to develop your managers, contact Anne Nash, Managing Director on 01782 717817, or email a.nash@tfa.co.uk for further details.
